I’m a photographer of people in their greatest or most mundane moments in time.

I’m concerned about your experience just as much as your final portraits. I want you to feel confident, excited, and calm when we begin, and full of joy and hurt cheeks when we end.

First things, First!

You contact me HERE, we decide which session best fits your photography needs and vision. I ask that you come prepared with at least two dates that work best for you, in case we need to reschedule your session.

WHen’s the Best Time of Day

and Season for Portraits?

After nearly two decades doing photography, I’ve found that there is no ‘bad’ light or time of day—only different types of light.

Yes, we photographers love golden hour (the hour before sunset) and it’s regarded widely as the optimum time of day to book your session. Early morning tends also to have a softer light filter for all you early birds if that fits your schedule better. The later in the morning, the more noticeable shadows can become. Bright midday light keeps us in the shadows completely at your session or even in completely full sun. You’ll notice more detail in your images and may be prone to squinting, so keep that in mind but this is a rising and trendy time of day to shoot. I find it give a more dramatic documentary feel to images that a golden hour session can’t provide. Golden hour tends to feel more whimsical and cinematic.

I want you to decide what the right time is for you and the vibe you want your portraits to possess. Schedule around naps, plan for right after dinner and before a sweet treat reward, or throw caution to the wind and stay up to watch the sunset under soft beams.

If you’re a golden hour fan but can’t fathom keeping the kids up late for anything on this earth, I totally get it. I would suggest waiting until the fall and winter or early spring months when sunsets are early in the day.

It is also important to consider the time of year and weather concerns. Rain simply happens often in the fall-spring here in the PNW, and I do my best to plan around weather changes, but you can’t know what the day will look like until it arrives! Typically the summers are bone dry, so if you’re looking for warm sunshine, wait for mid to late summer.

Fall color is amazing but later in the season, it is wetter. Spring sees the most color when everything is in bloom but that doesn’t happen usually until late April and early May. I can talk you through this part as well. After we settle on a date and time,  and your initial session payment is taken, we will start the styling process.

STYLING

After you book your session, you’ll receive a mobile session and style guide that coordinates with the season you are booking. Mini Sessions get their own specific guide! This guide is full of other amazing session tips and tricks for hair, make-up, and the whitest teeth you’ve ever seen!

AFTER THE SESSION

After our session, you’ll receive your images in 2 weeks for full sessions and 3-5 business days for minis!

Each client gallery comes with a custom pin that will allow you to download your images, as well as a list of suggested vendors that you can use to print your beautiful photographs!

More Frequently Asked Questions.

  • YES! I serve all of Western WA. I am based in Olympia and travel anywhere within 60 miles for no extra fee. If your location is beyond this 60-mile radius, anything up to 200 miles from my office is charged a simple $50 travel fee. Anything beyond this 200-mile radius requires additional travel fees that include overnight lodging.

  • Yes, I am vaxxed and boosted and a religious mask user! I take Covid prevention seriously and want my clients to feel safe at my sessions. All sessions I wear a mask and when doing newborns, I double mask and wear gloves to help keep your loved ones as safe as can be. I do ask that anyone you bring to your session that is not being photographed wear a mask as well.

  • So, we live in a pretty uncertain time, I think that’s a bit of an understatement. The PNW is also known for its wild, ever-changing weather. I factor all of this when we plan your session together. I strongly encourage my full session clients to pick two dates that work with their family, so that in case of an emergency like covid, illness, or inclement weather, we don’t have to scramble to find a date that works for us both! If you decide you would no longer like to honor our contract, I need 3 days prior notice in writing and retain your initial payment fee. If I am not given 3 days prior cancellation notice in writing, the full retainer from your session is due. This does not mean you can’t have an emergency and have to reschedule! Everyone is allowed a complimentary reschedule for any session (except weddings!).

  • Cash, Check, and all major credit cards. You will receive an invoice via text or email, depending on your preference. All initial fees must be paid in full one of these three ways before your session time is booked.

  • Once you book with me, I will send you a seasonally appropriate style guide via email, as well as a code and link to a styling service that will help you decide what’s best for your family, if you’d like this resource. Full Session clients also have access to my client closet.

  • Minis: 3 business days

    Full Sessions: 1-2 weeks

    (this includes maternity, newborns, seniors)

    Weddings: 4-6 weeks

  • Everything! I believe in all-inclusive pricing, no hidden fees or prints to buy. Of course, I’m happy to help you make any decisions on where to print or what outfits to purchase, but your fee covers it all. From planning to the shoot, to your images returned!
